Hobbes is imagining that we have an unqualified there is no law nder that conduxciton the only right people have is the right to preserve themselves. Anybody will do anything they can top proptect themselves, be competitive, glory and notoriety therefore life is brutish and short 0 will lad to war and lead to fear and this is the motivation to improve their situation and that wiull be the hingle toi sign on the contract . H eis encouraged in these thoughts given the time he eas livingh in. The King was tried by a military court and the stahe was being rld by Cromwell and a lot of preope were saying bthat they should not acquiesce to the new order

The Contract - He feels that eventually people will come together with the mutual desire for a new society. (the people agree) Their united body will be represented by a sovereign and they will hand all their power to them and in order to maintain he might need to use the sword\

Like Hobbes, Locke sees power in abstract term. He al;so sees men in the context of the state of nature. Where they is natural freedom and equality and men use use their natural capacity keep to a moral law and law based on reason backed by God.

The state of nature can degenerate and lead to conflict at which point man can decide to go in to Political Society by way of a social contract. Locke is against the divine right of kings and absolutist. .You can not give absolute power because they abslututeist is put side the law. With Hobbes is irrevocable as long as he protect you for Locke it must maintain consent if the the people
